before & after

The idea for this kitchen is to refresh and update materials with a timeless style for new appliances, cabinets and flooring. The result is simple and elegant! Soft gray and white finishes are a beautiful contrast to the rich warm tones in the wood floor.

MATERIALS & FINISHES

  • Cambria quartz was chosen for the countertops, for its durability and low maintenance.

  • The painted ‘Beveled Shaker’ cabinet style selected is easier to clean than a traditional Shaker and offers some great features including:

    • microwave drawer

    • trash drawer

    • pegs for dishes

    • pantry storage with spice racks

    • cutting board drawer

    • tray pullouts

  • The Island became one height, and includes more surface area to meet a variety of needs. A single-bowl Kohler sink chosen for the island with a variety of accessories including:

    • cutting board

    • drain bridge that sits on top of the sink

    • stainless grid for the bottom

  • A very dramatic change in this kitchen space was the flooring. The new wood floor is from United Tile’s ‘Plank’ series and covers the whole main level, replacing tired, outdated tile and carpet.

  • We used one paint color for the walls and ceilings, throughout. This soft gray is very easy on the eyes!

  • For the lighting, we replaced the recessed cans with LED. We have LED strip-tape lighting under the cabinets and at the upper cabinet cove areas to brighten each side of the range.

before & after

A few simple design ideas can have a dramatic impact in a dark bathroom. The functionality of a bathing area can be greatly improved with space reconfiguration, new materials and lighting fixture selections.

materials & finishes

  • Creamy large 18” square Happy Floors tiles help open and lighten the space.

  • For the shower, a new LED light and smooth, soft, flat-cut pebble mosaic tile from Dal-Tile, in multi-toned creams and grays were selected for the floor to complete our coastal theme. These tiles, by the way are also nice on the feet!

  • Vanity top is set with Cambria quartz Oakmoor, a very stunning wave-like pattern with soft taupes on a creamy background, reminiscent of a sandy beach and coastal theme. Dark brown stained doors and door fronts are refaced with a medium toned taupe stain. Kohler Verdera LED vanity mirrors, on dimmers, provide a functional solution to the vanity lighting problem.

  • Chrome finish Kohler Purist plumbing fixtures and accessories were selected for a contemporary feel and contrast.

Kitchen Refresh Craftsman Style

General Contractor: Kitsap Kitchen & Bath Co; Interior Design: Tracy Corriveau for KKB

The idea for this kitchen update is inspired by the Craftsman style. One of the main features are the antique white Shaker cabinets which replaced 1990's Oak. Base cabinets that were doors became drawers for easy access. Cambria Nevern quartz was added to the perimeter counters, with a single piece on the backsplash behind the range for low maintenance cleaning.  Pental ceramic subway gloss tile on the other backsplash areas. Adjustable lighting sconces are from Restoration Hardware. Floating shelves stained to match the hardwood floor, replaced a tall wall cabinet, and opened up this wall for more interest!
